Product Description

With the release of Billy: The Early Years Of Billy Graham DVD, audiences are given a rare insight into the life of Billy Graham as a young man at the crossroads of faith and doubt, ultimately facing the moment of decision that launched one of history's most powerful evangelistic careers.

That is the crux of this biography of one of the most influential figures of 20th Century Christianity: Rev. Billy Graham, the charismatic evangelist and spiritual adviser to American presidents.

Armie Hammer gives a convincing portrayal of Graham as a sceptical teenager on his father’s Dairy farm who proclaims the two things he will never be are an undertaker and a preacher — until one day he answers a call at a tent revival and commits his life to Christ.

The movie follows Graham through his preparation as a preacher at Florida Bible Institute, his education at Wheaton College, and finally to the Los Angeles revival that would launch his legendary career.

The movie presents a portrait of Graham from the point of view of Charles Templeton, a fellow preacher who disagreed with the literal implementation of the bible and followed a more academic path. Martin Landau portrays Templeton as a tortured man on his deathbed, full of remorse and haunted by horrors of the world and his loss of faith. In contrast Armie Hammer portrays Graham as a young man full of exuberance and passion for the preaching the Gospel.

However it is Templeton’s doubts that stir Graham’s crisis of faith in 1949 preceding his first crusade in Los Angeles. To see the young Billy struggle with these issues demonstrates his integrity and humanity in the early years.

The all star cast includes Armie Hammer, Stefanie Butler, Jennifer O'Neill, Lindsay Wagner, and Martin Landau.
