Martin Landau portrays Templeton as a tortured man on his deathbed, full of remorse and haunted by horrors of the world and his loss of faith. In contrast Armie Hammer portrays Graham as a young man full of exuberance and passion for the preaching the Gospel.
However it is Templeton’s doubts that stir Graham’s crisis of faith in 1949 preceding his first crusade in Los Angeles. To see the young Billy struggle with these issues demonstrates his integrity and humanity in the early years.
